Yes. For a limited range of tests, you may request your own pathology testing if you are aged 16 years or over.
QML Pathology cannot perform self-requested tests for individuals under 16 years of age without written consent from a parent or legal guardian.
Please note that self-requested tests are not eligible for Medicare rebates, so the full cost must be paid at the time of collection.
Pathology tests are normally requested by a doctor, who is trained to interpret your results in the context of your symptoms, medical history, and overall health. Some tests can be complex, and results may be misinterpreted without appropriate clinical guidance.
