Biography

Dr Vichitra Sukumaran is a microbiologist at the laboratory practice in QML and the Head of department of Infectious diseases at Logan Hospital. Dr Sukumaran graduated from University College of Dublin and completed her training as an infectious diseases physican in both the Republic of Ireland and Australia and a training in Microbiology in Australia in Canberra Hospital and Pathology Queensland.

  • Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physician
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australia

Professional commitments:

  • Chair of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee Logan Hospital
  • Chair of the Standard 3 and the Infection Management committee Logan Hospital
  • RCPA Microbiology Representative to the GESA committee

Special interests

Special interests include Infection Management, Antimicrobial Stewardship, zoonotic infections, serology and molecular diagnostics. Currently undertaking specialist training in genomic microbiology.

Passionate about undergraduate and registrar teaching and is currently an examiner with the RACP.
