Graduated from the University of Melbourne and completed three years of training in anatomical pathology at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, with the final two years of pathology training spent at the University of Queensland and the Royal Brisbane Hospital
On achieving her fellowship she worked in a conjoint position between the University and Royal Brisbane Hospital, completing a PhD on the topic of "Apoptosis" during that time
In 1995 she spent six months in the University of Edinburgh followed by six months at the Technical University of Munich, both periods working in molecular biology
Dr Cummings has published many scientific papers during her career
1998 - Became a Fellow of the International Academy of Cytology and since 2001 has been the Chairperson of the RCPA Cytopathology Quality Assurance Program
2004 - Joined QML Pathology
