- 1967 - Graduated from The University of Queensland and began postgraduate training in pathology at the Royal Brisbane Hospital in 1969
- During training in anatomical pathology, began a research project into apoptosis under the supervision of Professor John Kerr
- 1973 - Qualified for his FRCPA
- Was awarded an MD for his research in 1975
- 1977 - Became Staff Pathologist in the Division of Anatomical Pathology at the RBH, becoming Senior Pathologist in 1983 and Director of the Division in 1991
- Involved in collaborative research with Professor Kerr and various members of QIMR, publishing many articles in medical scientific literature
- 2002 - Joined QML Pathology as a Consultant Histopathologist
- Special Interests: gastrointestinal pathology (including hepatology), renal biopsy interpretation, dermatopathology
